Let's face facts. Many of us will never be published by the Seven Sisters (big traditional publishers). We need to educate ourselves on indie/small/e-press authors.

Brenna Lyons is an author to pay attention to. She has over 80 published books to her credit. She writes a variety of genres, and uses a few different names. She is published with at least 7 indie/small press/epress publishers. The woman has been around the publishing block a couple times!

She gives valuable advice on how to choose a small press publisher on her blog. http://brennalyonsden.blogspot.com/2009/03/publisher-blues-how-to-choose.html?zx=d45d28595b4620ab  This article is far too long to use as a chat topic, but all new authors looking into small press should read it.

Let's use Brenna's article as a jumping off point for tonight's topic: Small Press Publishers. What does that title mean? What can you expect to find? What are the differences between small press and the Seven Sisters? And any questions you may want to ask.

(I started a new prompt thread on the forum. Visit, login, (register if you haven't yet) and try your hand at writing to prompts.)
