The Writer's Chatroom Topic Chat: When A Writer Becomes A Target
Published: Wed, 11/20/13
(Sally Franklin Christie is in charge tonight)
I had another link and topic picked out when Kim Richards Gilchrist sent this one to the Damnation and Eternal Authors.
Before I was published these things happened to me. Yes, me, Sally, and it wasn't because of my "screen name gender misunderstandings." I've been in trouble I still don't understand, for things I've written. I've had some pretty awful reviews and blog comments. And these things will happen to all of us until the Zombies take over the world, and then we'll have other fish to fry.

When a Writer Becomes a Target by Rachelle Gardener
Once you're a published author, you're going to have a target on your back. You will offer up your words to strangers, and not everyone will like what you write. You'll be naked and vulnerable in front of the world. You'll make mistakes, you may offend people. And you may not feel safe.
So what can we do about this? Here are three things.
No, I'm not going to list them because you're coming to chat with me tonight!
We'll take any other questions you may have in the second hour. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We look forward to chatting with you!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Get cash back for the shopping you're going to do anyway.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Having problems with your writing? Need plot advice or marketing tips? Looking for suggestions on who/what to read next? Come on in! If we don't know the answer, we'll make something up. We are creative people, ya know.
8 pm EST (check the clock above the login screen) the door will open. Type in the name you want us to call you by, and click the login button. No password needed for scheduled chats. |
