The Writer's Chatroom Topic Chat: Writer's Bucket List

(Sally Franklin Christie is in charge tonight)
It has been a really busy week and Tuesday morning I still hadn't come up with a Topic for Wednesday's Chat. I have been combing my email subject lines, re-reading them and following links for the better part of an hour. Just when I was about to make up a great excuse for open chat, this link showed up:
Dana Star begins her post - "When you stumble into this writing life, you're met with a massive lifetime to-do list of what's expected and required of you to ensure success: Write a lot, read a lot, start a blog, know your grammar, write a novel, attend a writers' conference, join social media
...
There are those basics. But sometimes you need an extra creative boost, something to kick your writing into high gear when your career or inspiration are
stuck in a rut. After you've gotten some of the basics down, explore these bucket list items to boost your creativity and take the next step towards your own unique writing life and career."
We don't have to agree or put ourselves at risk but it looks like a fun topic and we can probably manage to address all 5 before the top of the hour.
1. Do something bizarre just to write about it.
2. Self-publish Something.
3. Find a mentor.
4. Edit your favorite novel.
5. Live poor for a few months (or years).
Come help us through this topic Some of you have certainly done one or two of these things. We want to know how it turned out.
Sally
We'll take any other questions you may have in the second hour. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
