Do the letters "SEO" fill you with dread or confusion?  Does it make you want to log out of the chatroom and come back at the top of the second hour?  Resist the urge to drop in late for the Topic Chat at The Writer's Chatroom!

"SEO, or search engine optimization, is a method for structuring blog posts or articles so they show up higher in searches on Google,  BingYahoo or other search engines."

I tried to pass this topic off to our awesome Audrey Shaffer but she deflected it and the topic rolled back and stopped at my feet.  So, I set off to research.

There are a lot of sites that talk about SEO, but most of them are difficult to read.  Because SEO happens pretty much behind the scenes of our blogs and websites, only geeks and search engines seem interested.  You, as a writer, should know SEO basics. You need to include search engines as another part of your fan base and branding efforts.

This topic may seem complicated to new bloggers and website builders, but just learning the vocabulary will give you a leg up.  So, resist the urge to wait till the second hour to show up at chat.  Even if you just lurk you will learn something.  If you are a well seasoned blogger, please, drop in and help us with the topic!

Join us tonight to discuss SEO for the first hour. We'll take any other questions you may have in the second hour.
