Chat with Jonathan Eig |
Jonathan Eig is the author of two New York Times best sellers, LUCKIEST MAN: THE LIFE AND DEATH OF LOU GEHRIG and OPENING DAY: THE STORY OF JACKIE ROBINSON'S FIRST SEASON. His latest book, GET CAPONE, has earned rave reviews. The New York Times called it a "gore-spattered thriller." The Chicago Sun-Times wrote that "Eig's book excels for its scrupulous reporting and -- believe it or not -- fresh research that adds depth to the Capone story.... a rollicking read."
Born in Brooklyn in 1964, Eig is a graduate of Northwestern University's journalism school. He has worked as a reporter for the New Orleans Times-Picayune, the Dallas Morning News, Chicago magazine, and, most recently, The Wall Street Journal. At the Wall Street Journal, he made his mark as a feature writer, writing everything from the scandal at the Abu Ghraib prison in Iraq to the eternal domestic squabble over proper dishwasher loading technique. He has also written for Esquire, the New Republic, and the New
York Times.
He has appeared on NPR's "Fresh Air," ESPN, CNN, NBC's "Today Show," and "The Daily Show" with Jon Stewart. Eig lives in Chicago with his wife and children. Don't ask him what his next book is about because he ain't telling.
