(Sally Franklin Christie is in charge tonight, following up on Sunday's Goal-Setting chat...and this is the last Wednesday chat for 2014, so don't miss it!)

Yes, New Years is coming.  If you are like me, you opt for an easy goal, like vowing to meet people on their own path even if it means leaving your own.  Shampoo.  Rinse.  Recycle last year's goal...

Audrey Shaffer does a special goal-setting chat every year. I attend and come away with real admiration for people like Audrey.

Audrey, I'll leave my path and visit with you anytime.  I hope something rubs off...

Seriously, writing a novel, short story, article, poem or book is easier to do if you have a plan.

And what better time to start thinking and developing a plan than right now...

How to Develop a Writing Plan

We won't cover this whole article.  Read it before coming to chat and refer to it as you and I set goals for 2015.

"Sometimes, as a writer, it's difficult to think about large, overarching goals when you're working on a project or planning to start on something new. Thinking, "I'm going to write a novel and have it completed by XX date," is ambitious. And maybe it's too much of a reach.

"Instead, develop a plan. Write in chunks. Write sections of your novel or story that you find more interesting than others. Challenge yourself, but make your goals and expectations reasonable and attainable, because it will make the payoff satisfying."

And let's give Audrey Shaffer and our other Chatroom Moderators a huge round of applause for another year spent with us at The Writer's Chatroom...
