The Writer's Chatroom Topic Chat: The Art of Description
Published: Wed, 07/23/14
You asked for it, I will try to give it to you.
Description is not a strong point for me. I tend to skim over descriptions when I'm reading, so I skim them when I'm writing too. I once had a critique partner look over a chapter. His response was "This is pretty good. But where are these people? What part of the country, what country, and are they in a house or outside?" Yes. I forget to write description.
Anne Marble knows a bit about description, and she shares her knowledge here. http://www.writing-world.com/fiction/description.shtml
