Our State of the Union discussion gave me several topics to look into. One was the classic Show vs Tell. Many writers don't understand the difference, or know how to spot it. Maria V Snyder has a good blog post on the subject.
It's a bit long, so I don't know how much of it we'll be able to cover tonight, but we're going to give it a shot!
