A Night of Prompts & Word Sprints
Image
It is that NaNoWriMo time of year and I hope everyone will enjoy a ‘prompt’ chat.

You do not need to be a November Novel Writing Month Participant to join us.

We will do timed writings using a random prompt generator.

Guests may type their responses directly into the chatroom or use your favorite word processing program.

There won’t be time to edit or dilly-dally over grammar, content or spelling. Sharing is optional but I think it is much more fun for everyone to share.

These word sprints will awaken your muse. In NaNo a word sprint gets a writer un-stuck. They often come in useful to motivate a participant just enough to reach his or her daily word count.

Those who save our prompts to work on later are welcome to post them on our Forum in the NaNoWriMo area.

Warning.. Private Messaging will be turned off during this Topic Chat to encourage sharing.

November is NaNoWriMo Month at the Chatroom

During NaNoWriMo the goal is to write 50,000 words in 30 Days. (November 1 – November 30) National Novel Writing Month

From the FAQ page at NaNoWriMo on why a Novel is defined as 50K words..

Our experiences since 1999 show that 50,000 words is a challenging but achievable goal, even for people with full-time jobs and children. This is about the length of The Great Gatsby. We don’t use the word “novella” because it doesn’t seem to impress people the way “novel” does.
We define a novel as “a lengthy work of fiction.” Beyond that, we let you decide whether what you’re writing falls under the heading of “novel.” In short: If you believe you’re writing a novel, we believe you’re writing a novel, too.

The Shout Box Application has been enabled so participants can share progress and word-sprints.
