Sunday’s Topic
Chat – Non-Fiction
Way back in the 90s I was writing short stories and articles. Although I never sold a short story my articles appeared in some national publications. I had an article in Sage Woman and Pan Gaia, they both paid well. The last paid article appeared in WOW-Women on Writing issue 15. Predatory Practices of Unscrupulous Agents - An Interview with Victoria Strauss appeared in late 2007. Then I tuned to fiction,
again.
The Writer’s Chatroom has focused on novel writers. There are poets, short fiction writers, essayists, speech writers, journalists and magazine writers, too. This Sunday I want to shake things up a little and moderate a Sunday Topic Chat about writing for magazines.
The 15-Step Freelance Writers' Guide to Writing for Magazines
Do you
have this dream? You go down to your nearest big newsstand one day and check out all those big, glossy magazines. You flip one of your favorites open...and there's your byline.
This is a long article and I doubt we will make our way through all 15 steps. I encourage all of you to read the article. We will work our way down.
Before chat I want you to look at a term which was new to me. You’ll find LOI
in #9 of the 15-Step Guide. I am familiar with the step but have never seen the term. Yes, I need to get out more often!
If there is time after the topic workshop, we will open the room for any questions you may have.

We look forward to chatting with you!
