While continuing my adventure into points of view, I discovered a Superpower.
A Writer’s Superpower.
The excerpt refers to a particular point of view.
Limited Omniscient.
There are two types of third-person point of view: omniscient, in which the narrator knows all of the thoughts and feelings of all of the characters in
the story, or limited, in which the narrator relates only their own thoughts, feelings, and knowledge about various situations and the other characters.
But I promised you a Superpower.. I found this quote inside Janet Burroway’s book Writing Fiction. It is too good for me
to keep to myself.
“Although this common form of the limited omniscient may seem very restricted, given all the possibilities of omniscience, it has a freedom that no human being
has. In life you have full access to only one mind, your own; and you are also the one person that you cannot externally observe. As a fiction writer you can do what no human being can do, be simultaneously inside and outside a given character.”

This is Our Superpower. We should use it wisely and well.

Traditional, Independent, Vanity, Hybrid or Self Publishing?
Well, let’s talk about it.
I think some of the lines between these different modes of publishing are sometimes very blurred. How do you know which kind of publishing suits your needs?
Hybrid Publishing came up in a Writerly Group I follow on Facebook. I looked it up and one thing lead to another and of course I want to share my confusion and new-found knowledge with you.
A hybrid press or hybrid publisher is a publishing house that operates with a different revenue model than traditional publishing, while keeping the rest of the practices of publishing the same. The revenue source of a traditional publisher is through the sale of
books (and other related materials) that they publish, while the revenue of hybrid publishers comes from both book sales and fees charged for the execution of their publishing services. To be a hybrid publisher, the longstanding standards and best practices that have been set by publishing industry must be upheld.
Join us in the Chat Room on Wednesday for a mini-topic chat.
The website has been updated for security reasons and with the update a new theme appeared and of course, I began an interior design project. It is still The Writer’s Chatroom, it is a little more secure and the paint should be dry by the time of your arrival.
