Next Sunday marks the beginning of our editing/revision month.
If you like a group experience I recommend becoming a participant in NaNoEdMo. (EdMo)
The site has pre-EdMo checklists. In March it allows you to upload the number of hours you have spent with your chosen Editing Project. The goal of EdMo is to log 50 hours by the end of the month and they have articles, boards and even a chat room to keep you motivated.
Our running topic for March will be Revision & Editing. We will sort out the difference between Revision and Editing and address techniques and forms of editing.
If you haven’t looked at your NaNoWriMo project March is a great time to drag it out of your document files and blow the electrons off.
• DECIDE what project to work on in March
• REREAD your novel or other large writing project
• NOTE big-picture and other changes (but not line edits)
• READ an article on editing (or two or three) from our archives
• STRATEGIZE your rewrites on the manuscript
• GET READY to start self-editing as of midnight March 1st!

Finding Your Reader
Finding your ideal reader can and probably is as difficult as pinning down your genre. And once we define her we have to find her, court her and convince her to click on the ‘buy link.’
The whole reason we write is to connect with people in a meaningful way, right? So, be yourself, enjoy the people you get to know, and trust the rest will follow.

I plan to carry this topic into at least two chats and to honor February Romance Month we will use romance genres as examples.
Two additional websites to explore are Yasiv and Soovle. You may want to explore your current genre on these sites before or after chat in your spare time. I think you will enjoy the results.

February is Romance Month
Romance is a genre with a huge readership. Within the genre are vast and variable subgenres and subgenres with subgenres of their own.
I want to go deep into finding our audience no matter the genre. If you are writing in hopes of someone reading then you will need to find your reader.
I will be trying out examples for finding audience using the Romance novel to honor February.
Instead of going Full Topic on Superbowl Sunday I'm going to flirt a little, brush up against it and give you just enough information to be ready to stalk your reader and sell her a book.
We will talk about Audiences on Wednesday and wrap up the discussion on Sunday the 10th.
