This week we are talking about how to include our five senses in our writing. We will give Smell a spotlight.
We talked about Smells and during Wednesday's chat. Did you know we have smell receptors in our organs? Our Livers and Hearts have smell receptors. We could feel it in our bones and smell it in our hearts. Something to ponder,
anyway.
SMELLS
Smells are everywhere and some writers use them well. A fish stinks from the head down. The smell of Old Spice and bubble gum took Maggie right back to the time her daddy put a band-aid on her scraped knee. Death, once smelled,
it is hard to forget.
TOUCH
Among our five major senses is touch. We feel so many things. Touch is probably easier to write than smell. Is it rough, hot, sticky, slimy? Is it like a gentle breath on the back of you neck? Is it heavy
and thick and cold as rusted iron gates?
Join us for a conversation on Touch.
Bring any Writerly Questions and we will see what we can do. Most of us write fiction, so if we can't answer we will get together and make something up.
Seriously, we strive to make the Writers Chat Room a
safe place to talk about writing.
